Realistic improvised weapon and point blank gun defenses: Krav Maga, however finding a place that does it adequately stateside is hard, and you generally don’t get into it, in the upper levels. Additionally is useless unless you constantly drill it, and then do it in an alive manner (Air soft guns with face protection, semunitions, etc.) or padded up and full on force knife defenses. In short it takes a while, and there are few places that do it well.
Some schools of pretty much every Martial Art will do some work on it, and some do a good job. The difference between good and bad is the partner cooperation, or choreography. There should be no predetermined stabbing motion, no fake guns that never go off (otherwise how do you know if you have truly clearned the muzzle). While learning the technique there should be some partner compliance, however it should get progressive with resistance, eventually leading to high intensity sparring with the weapon weilder truly trying to shoot or stab you.
here in new mexico i say chavaz karate is the best because we do soward fighting, karate and stick fighting anything with weponds and we never lose a fight so yea we also are doing a thig with holly homes and we are gonna kick her butt
It all depends on the school. We are a traditional Okinawin karate school but we train how to use and defend against knives, bats, clubs. We try to keep the trainign realistic, and I have found that even against a novice knife fighter, no matter how good you are, you are probably going to get cut. We train to minimize the damge we take.
I think any style could be used for it, but it would be up to the individual school. I also believe that kunjokenbo(sorry about the spelling) that Ray H. trains in has heavy weapons use and defense.
All Martial arts should teach some type of weapon defense but in reality some just teach tournament sparring. In order to find a good school one must first observe the training of the school. Look at the schedule of training, and one must talk to the instructor to find out if the style meets your needs. Ask lots of questions to get answers. Be aware there is a lot of styles of martial arts. For example Kung Fu, Okinawan & Japanese Karate, Tae-Kwan-Do, PukDoksuri and a lot others.
I do Ju-Jitsu and we do lots of defence from knives, battons and guns. But it isn’t traditional Japanese Ju-Jitsu. Krav Maga is the best for weapons though.
Few of us would intentionally drive across the country without a spare tire, because we plan ahead and deal with whatever emergency comes our way. However, the daily news contains numerous reports of assaults, home invasions, car- jackings, kidnappings, rapes, robberies, tortures, and murders. If only there was something that the victums could have done to prevent or counter such unfortunate circumstances. Some people make an effort to learn an effective means of self defense, and consider that not learning to defend themselves would be the same as victumizing themselves so got into a popular martial art. (If we do nothing, we lose.) If you want to learn an effective martial art Serrada Escrima is a great choice. Serrada is considered to be one of the most effective martial arts on the planet. A truly effective combat efficient martial art has counters against weapons, BUT unfortunately MOST martial arts today simply aren’t effective against weapons,
thus leaving their practitioners OFTEN with a false sense of security. A purely Empty Hand style is practically worthless against weapons. Empty Hands Fighting is a last resort in a self defense situation, and only a martial art that is designed specifically to deal with the reality of weapons attacks will be useful when it comes to using empty hands against weapons. Surviving combat is not a contest. This is obvious once we realize WEAPONS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN USED IN EVERY CULTURE WHEN IT COMES TO REAL COMBAT. Serrada Escrima is a comprehensive combative effective martial art that has superior empty hand and weaponry techniques that anyone can learn and use to counter vicious attacks. Also, in the event that we have no weapons available we can use our environment as a weapon against anyone that threatens our safety. SERRADA ESCRIMA
Krav maga is the only one that I’m aware of, that you can learn that teach you these things without having to join the government in some way.

krav maga. Most self defense courses cover this stuff. Pretty much the same techniques. Krav Maga covers a bit more.
Krav maga is a military style martial art that combines many other martial art. It is used primarily by the Israeli army.
We used similar but different teaching in the Marines. Our system was based on Krav maga and it’s effective since it combines many styles.
